The Architecture Biennale is an excellent reason to stay in Venice for more than a quick visit. Beyond the exhibitions, the walk between venues invites you to discover the city itself.
At a glance: The 20th International Architecture Exhibition runs from 8 May to 21 November 2027, with preview days on 6 and 7 May. Its title is Do Architecture — For the Possibility of Coexistence Facing a Real Reality, curated by Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu.
Why it is worth discovering
The main exhibition sites are the Giardini and the Arsenale, with additional venues around Venice. Expect contemporary ideas, different perspectives and plenty to discuss together afterwards. You don't need professional architectural knowledge to enjoy the installations.
How to experience it
Choose one main venue per half-day rather than racing through both. Start from Locanda Fiorita with a walk through San Marco, then continue towards the eastern districts or use scheduled public transport when needed. Leave some free time for a canal-side lunch.

A realistic plan for the Giardini and Arsenale
The Giardini and Arsenale are both in the eastern part of the historic centre, but they are substantial venues: take the time to read exhibition texts and rest between installations. Travelling as a couple is especially rewarding when you can talk about the works instead of rushing to see everything.
For 2027 the organisers have announced the title Do Architecture and curators Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu. Online ticket sales had not opened when this guide was prepared.
